The CoCoRaHS station at Edisto Beach reported one of the wettest Augusts on record for the state, with 26.16" of rainfall. It recorded 5.55" in 24 hours ending the morning of August 3, 1.54" between August 12 and 20, and 9.00" from August 22-23, due to a stalled cold front. A nearby station (Edisto Beach 5.1 NNW) recorded 22.69" for the month. Several stations along the coast, from Beaufort to Mount Pleasant, also reported monthly totals over twenty inches. This surpasses the previous monthly record for August, which was 24.42" recorded in 1898 in Gillisonville (Hampton County). .
