The drought committee uses seven different indicators to assess conditions across the state and no single indicator triggers a drought committee meeting. These seven drought indicators are evaluated every week.
The State Climatology Office provides seasonal updates of climate and water conditions to the drought response committee, even if South Carolina is experiencing normal or wet conditions.
